Anyone allergic to latex?
56when a bandaid hurts worse than the injury...
So, here I am on a Thursday night recovering for an allergy attack of the strangest sort. I have recently found out that I am allergic to latex. Of course, I found out the hard way. A week ago I had a table leaf from our dining room table fall and strike the back of my left ankle. It really looked worse that it was and it did tak off a bunch of skin (gross, I know).
So anyway, for the past week I've been a good friend with Neosporin, gauze, and medical tape. As it has healed and I have moved to bandaids, I noticed some issues. My foot began to swell around the area of the bandage, achy, and mild discomfort. Ironically when the bandaid was off...no problems.
I kept thinking...is the bandaid too tight, is there an infections...yada yada yada. So while at the local Walgreens I thought I'd ask. Low and behold, there are cloth type bandaids for people who are allergic to latex. After some research in the store, I was able to get what I needed and head home.
A little ice pack to reduce the swelling, a couple hours without anything on it at all, and now I sit here typing with a cloth bandaid and Neosporin on my ankle and I'm feeling no pain.
Awesomeness!!!
Anyone else have this issue?
